Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mrs. Mary Eileen Davis née Moylan, of Belvidere, NJ, passed into eternal heaven on August 8, 2015, at the age of 91, surrounded by her loving family. Mary led a full and exemplary life. She brought joy and comfort to all those around her. She was a Jersey City girl at heart, born there of Thomas Francis Moylan and Anastasia Moylan née Saunders, who came to America from Ireland in search of a better future. Mary and her late beloved husband Thomas E. Davis had six daughters whom they adored. Mary graduated from St. Michael's High School in Jersey City, and attended St. Michael's Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society. The close Irish families of downtown Jersey City provided Mary with friendships that lasted for lifetimes, including the Ronans, the Degnans, the Mahoneys, the Boylans, the Rabbits, the Holians, the Mortons, and the Hughes, among others. Mary and her family later moved to Denville, where Mary was a daily communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Rosary Society; worked at Epstein's of Morristown and the Visiting Health Service of Morris County; served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels; and assisted with the care of the disabled. In their later years, Mary and Tom moved to Belvidere, where Mary became a devoted member of St. Patrick Church and the Legion of Mary, and developed many important friendships at the Church and the Nutrition Center. She learned to crochet and donated hundreds of baby blankets to hospitals. Throughout her life, Mary maintained a warm and wonderful sense of humor, a quick and self-effacing wit, an unbounded generosity, and an unwavering faith in God. Her heart was large and strong, and she used the blessings God gave her to touch thousands of lives. She loved reading, traveling, gardening, watching ice hockey and the Mets, visiting the beach, and following current events. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Thomas E. Davis; her precious daughter Anastasia; her parents, Thomas and Anastasia Moylan; and nine much adored siblings. Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Maureen Davis, Eileen Musarra, Theresa Davis, Dr. Bernadette Davis, and Kathleen Davis; her doting grandchildren, Thomas Stearn, Stacey Cassar, John S., Rebecca and Patricia Musarra, Maureen Rosenblatt, and Benjamin, Devin, Kaitlyn and Declan Davis-Lorton; as well as five adoring great-grandchildren; and legions of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Patrick R.C. Church, 327 Greenwich Street, Belvidere, NJ. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Belvidere, NJ.
